Why I Started Aviz Consulting
During my 23+ years supporting federal research programs and mission-driven teams at the National Institutes of Health, I learned how to ask the right questions, evaluate systemic impacts, and help teams navigate complex compliance challenges.
Through this work, I saw firsthand how quickly dense compliance requirements, outdated operating procedures, and unclear governance can cause confusion and create administrative burden. Faced with daily demands, even the most dedicated teams simply lack the space to step back and address these issues.
I created Aviz Consulting to fill that gap. I operate as an independent advisor who handles the heavy analytical diagnostics in the background—allowing your staff to stay focused on their mission.
My Philosophy: People-First Operations
Operational systems don’t fail because of bad technology or poor intent. They fail because they were designed for compliance first, and humans second.
When procedures are over-engineered, staff are forced to navigate dense policies, unnecessary compliance layers, and repetitive administrative steps. The resulting friction leads to errors, lost momentum, and oversight gaps.
At Aviz Consulting, I approach operations through the lens of Human-Systems Alignment. By blending rigorous governance with a practical application of human factors principles, I design tools and procedures that work with human behavior, not against it. The result is intuitive processes where compliance becomes a natural byproduct of intentional design.
